Mrs. Luluda
Of unknown origin and unspecified age,
Mrs. Luluda likes to sit outside looking at the passerbys.
She loves town festivals, block parties, celebrations of all kind
and every occasion in which the streets are full.
She astonishes, she bothers, she smokes her pipe,
gives sweets to children even where it’s forbidden and she improvises concerts with her guitar.
Her repertory revisites in a swing way known and unknown songs,
stolen to famous song writers or dusted off from some old garrets, heard in some harbour
or founded by chance in some old suitcase found on a train.
From French stations to Portogueses taverns, from Italian cafés to Greek squares,
from north-Americans basements to suth-Americans cellars,
there’s no place which Mrs. Luluda ain’t visited nor language that could frighten her.
